Product research: what participants contribute
How consumer and product research uses interviews, tests and feedback from participants.
Researchers need real context
Product research often explores routines, decisions, needs and reactions to a concept. The provider’s target criteria determine who is invited.
Feedback can be positive or critical
Describe your actual experience instead of trying to be helpful by agreeing with everything. Specific examples are more useful than general approval.
Respect confidential material
Do not share prototypes, session questions or participant details outside the study when the provider asks you to keep them confidential.
