How to cancel a research session responsibly
How to notify a provider when you can no longer attend a study appointment.
Notify early
Use the provider’s specified contact method as soon as you know you cannot attend. This gives the research team a chance to fill the session.
Do not invent a reason
A brief, accurate cancellation is enough. Follow the provider’s rescheduling or no-show policy if one is stated.
Keep the confirmation
Save any cancellation message and reply. This helps if the provider later asks about the appointment.
